Malware can slow down your computer and steal your data. Here is how to remove malware from Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Signs Your Computer Has Malware

  • Computer runs slower than usual
  • Pop-up ads appear unexpectedly
  • Browser redirects to strange websites
  • Programs you did not install appear
  • Antivirus software is disabled

Step 1: Boot into Safe Mode

  1. Click Start then Power
  2. Hold Shift and click Restart
  3. Select Troubleshoot then Advanced options then Startup Settings
  4. Click Restart then press 4 for Safe Mode

Step 2: Use Windows Security

  1. Open Windows Security
  2. Click Virus and threat protection
  3. Click Scan options then Full scan
  4. Click Scan now

Step 3: Use Malwarebytes

  1. Download Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.com
  2. Install and open the program
  3. Click Scan then review detected threats
  4. Click Quarantine to remove them
